Wa alaikum Salaam wa Rahmatullah Wa Barakatu, We have to do a lot of soul searching as individuals first. Some who may have a desire for unification don't know what action to take to make it happen. Then there are others who have friendships and family ties that may lead them to do things for personal preference having absolutely nothing to do with pleasing Allah but pleasing themselves. If we would learn to stay still and weather the storm, then we would be able to see and experience the promise of Allah to eventually make things easier for us after such hardships. An example of this is when the people break away from commitment to one Masjid to open or join another......this is one the most prominent factors that divide the Muslim community. If establishing a Masjid makesit easy for the Believers to make their salat (due to location) this would be acceptable, but to establish one to separate from another group of Believers is haraam. So what do we do at this point in our lives since we already made those moves? Commit to where you are or go back to where you came from and be still there. Work the best you can with your group and continuously appeal to your "leadership" to unite and work in conjunction with the other groups as well. If your leadership refuses, then do the best you can to unite yourself with the body of Believers. If we do not correct this behavior by learning how to control our anger and egos, then separation of the Ummah will be ongoing. May Allah help us.
